Creating digital communications
Web or intranet content and downloads
Web or intranet content
Web or intranet content is the best way to display information. It's easy to read, find, update, and is accessible and responsive on all devices.
Content that would have been uploaded in the past as a PDF is now being created as content.
Although some PDFs have a better visual impact, they are designed for printed documents. Compared with content, information published in a PDF is harder to find, use and maintain.
Please contact your Resource Information Co-ordinator to create new content or edit existing content.
Help with writing content
The writing guide will take you through some things to think about when you are writing content including:
- tone
- language
- making things relevant
- preparing content
- customer journeys
Use of graphics in content
If you need a branded header, or have an essential image to include in your content, please see using graphics online.
Downloads on the website
We no longer upload PDFs to the council's website. There are only a few exceptions to this, for example, the council plan, which we also make available in an accessible format.
Even for users with no impairments, online PDFs aren’t responsive for mobile devices, are hard to read on-screen, and are difficult to navigate.
If your download can not be created as web content, for example, if it is too long or complex, you can create it in Open Document Text or Open Document Spreadsheet.
