New start

Annual leave entitlement is based on completed years’ service from 1 January to 31 December.

New employees accrue leave throughout the year based on complete months of service in line with the entitlement as outlined in the relevant schedule of terms and conditions.

An employee joining the Council from another Local Authority or public sector partner organisation will have leave based on their previous continuous service with that employer.

Oracle Fusion will automatically calculate the overall leave entitlement for your employees, based on their length of service and the hours worked for their job. The system will also automatically calculate the correct pro rata leave entitlement for new starts that commence during the year.

The leave entitlement will include annual leave and public holidays and therefore new employees must apply for any remaining public holidays that fall on their scheduled work days.
