Annual leave
Oracle Fusion will automatically calculate an employee’s leave entitlement, based on their length of service, the standard hours for their job and their hours worked per week. The leave entitlement will include annual leave and public holidays.
Annual leave entitlement is based on completed years’ service from 1 January to 31 December. All annual leave must be taken between 1 January and 31 January of the following year, as untaken leave cannot be taken after this date and will be lost.
Managers have discretion to grant annual leave based on the needs of their service and they have a responsibility to ensure that employees take their leave proportionately throughout the leave year.
Leave entitlement accrues throughout the year based on complete months of service.
Annual leave accrues when an employee is on sick leave in line with the statutory minimum entitlement which is currently 28 days. This leave can be carried beyond 31 January to be used when the employee returns to work. If a phased return is appropriate, the employee may be asked to use some of their leave from the previous year to support this.
Annual leave also accrues when an employee is on maternity, paternity and adoption leave based on the occupational entitlement contained within the employee’s schedule of terms and conditions. This leave can also be carried beyond 31 January to be used when the employee returns to work.
Leave does not accrue when an employee is on career break.
