Managing leave and time off
The key to effective holiday and leave management is to treat all requests that you receive fairly and consistently. This is best achieved by having a clear understanding within the team on requesting leave. It is a good idea to insist that employees give a minimum period of notice when requesting time off, to enable suitable cover and workload planning to be arranged.
Requests for time off should be considered on a case by case basis and, where possible, you should try to accommodate reasonable requests by adapting working arrangements or, where appropriate, start and finish times.
Having a holiday planner (Oracle Fusion leave calendar) can help keep the process transparent and enable staff to plan around each other where possible.
Good management of staff leave can go a long way towards preventing unplanned absences and improving overall employee engagement.
