Employee recognition scheme

Our employee recognition scheme is how we say thank you to the people and teams who make a real difference every day. It gives everyone a simple way to recognise great work, share good practice and celebrate behaviours that support residents, communities and colleagues.

You can nominate an individual or a team, at any time, using a short online form. The scheme runs every month, so there are lots of chances to take part.

What the scheme is for

The scheme helps us to:

• recognise and celebrate excellent work
• encourage a culture of appreciation and feedback
• share examples that help improve services
• make sure recognition is fair, open and available to everyone

Who can take part

Who you can nominate
Any employee or eligible team, in any role, location or working pattern.

Who can nominate
Any employee, elected member or member of the public. You can nominate a colleague, a team or someone you manage. Peer nominations are welcome.

What you will need
A clear example of what happened, the difference it made and why it fits the award category.

How the scheme works

• Choose the award category that best fits the work you want to recognise.
• Complete the employee recognition nomination form.
• We check and collate nominations centrally.
• A cross‑council panel scores nominations against clear criteria.
• We confirm winners and share them through our internal communications.
• Winners receive recognition such as a certificate, recognition pack and leadership acknowledgement.

Award categories

These include customer service, community impact, equality diversity and inclusion, living our values, team excellence, health safety and wellbeing, leadership, sustainability and climate action, innovation, unsung hero and rising star.
