Print strategy
The aims of the Print Strategy are to:
- Create a more effective and efficient way of printing and copying
- Introduce new multifunctional photocopiers, (Multi-Functional Devices or MFDs) which can scan, copy and print
- Improve security of printing and provide better reporting
- Reduce paper waste and improve environmental impact of the existing fleet
- Streamline the fleet of desktop printers
- Reduce the use of expensive consumables such as ink for desktop printers
The key change in the Print Strategy project is the introduction of software in most establishments which will provide more management information on our printing in larger buildings.
This system uses existing log in and password details and will be accessed using existing flexi card systems where these are in place. The introduction of the new canon system (from Late October 2017) will require the use of a new type of staff ID badge. The new cards have been issued throughout 2017 in a rolling programme. If you have a new badge you will see the word MiFare on the top right on the back of your card. If you require a new badge this this will be coordinated centrally as your get your new canon devices.
Please be aware that all printing, copying and scanning you do will be logged against your own name, so it is important that only you use your flexi card (or the photocopy card provided) and do not give your card, login or pin number to anyone else. The same code of conduct rules that apply to your computer login and password also apply to this new system.
If you have any special requirements for printing, for example because of a disability, an impact assessment can be carried out by your service to assess your needs.
The new MFDs (Multi-Functional Devices) will replace existing photocopier facilities and through their ability to set up network links, will help to reduce the number of copies sent to any remaining desktop devices. This will help us to reduce the amount of expensive ink we use.
This is being co-ordinated by the Print Strategy Group, chaired by Communications and Strategy. The group is made up of representatives from each Resource as well as South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture Ltd and the LVJB (Lanarkshire Valuation Joint Board). The roll out is being co-ordinated with the approval of the Corporate Management Team (CMT).
Photocopier/Multifunctional Device (MFD) requests
You can now request a new device or the resite/termination of an existing device online. Please note: All major buildings will have the new Canon devices deployed at the same time.
