Risk management
The Risk management section helps to identify and control risks which the council is exposed. This is achieved through:
- Providing insurance cover and a claims handling service
- Identifying the risk hotspots for targeted risk control by service
- Rolling out the council's Risk Management Strategy through provision of advice and training and other support for risk control initiatives
- Managing the council's self insurance fund
- Participating in development of professional standards of competence in risk management
- Identifying the council's top risk areas aligned to the council's objectives and priorities and supporting the development of risk registers and risk control plans
- Delivery of a corporate risk work plan
- Funding risk management initiatives
Risk Management Bulletins
We produce best practice bulletins which are intended to target areas where there is a known problem. The bulletins provide advice on how to eliminate or reduce the risk and clarify responsibilities.
