Finance Services

Finance Services are located on floors 4 and 12 at Headquarters in Almada Street, Hamilton. We have the task of securing the revenue and capital funds of the council and working with other Resources to ensure we maximise the level of funding available.

We ensure monies are directed to agreed areas of priority and perform a stewardship role in monitoring and reporting on financial performance. We supply information to allow managers at all levels to measure their financial and operational performance within the context of best value.

Services we provide

• Accounting and budgeting who are responsible for effectively and efficiently managing the financial affairs of the council
• Risk management team assists in the identification and evaluation of risks associated with the delivery of the council's objectives and provides support to help manage these risks
• Financial Performance (incorporating Best Value, Research, Funding, Strategy)
•  Internal audit team works to provide managers and Elected Members with assurance on how well the management processes and procedures are controlling risks and will make recommendations for improvements
•  Corporate services deals with the council's payroll, payment of invoices, VAT accounting services, as well as having responsibility for treasury management which covers banking arrangements and debt management. The Systems team have responsibility for the development of the council's corporate finance systems
• Strategic Procurement section co-ordinate all procurement throughout the council
• The eProcurement Team are working on the implementation, across the council, of a corporate eProcurement system. This is being carried out as a 3 year project
