Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams

With many staff working remotely due to Coronavirus it is essential that communication and collaboration continues both internally and with external partners and organisations.

To help with this we will be rolling out Microsoft Teams across the organisation

All Windows users with an Office 365 account will be enabled for Teams which can run on council laptops, desktop PCs and personal devices using Outlook Web Access (OWA).

Microsoft Teams is designed to provide an easier way for small groups of people to communicate and collaborate.

Functions such as chat and conferencing, file-sharing and collaboration, and note-taking are available directly within the app with no jumping between windows, logins, or screens to access all your team’s content.

When using chat and conferencing you may be able to use your device’s onboard microphone and speakers. Alternatively you may need to connect a separate headset with an integrated mic

Help and support - digital champions

Executive Directors have identified digital champions to coordinate and help with the rollout and support of Microsoft Teams in your Resource.

The role of digital champion includes:

  • helping with the rollout and promotion of Microsoft Teams
  • creating and maintaining teams and channels
  • being the first point of contact if you need support and guidance
  • acting as the link person between your service and the IT Service Centre (helpdesk)

If you have any questions need more information or support, contact the digital champion for your Resource/Service. A list will be provided soon.

All communication with IT Services regarding Microsoft Teams should be channelled through digital champions. Please do not contact IT Services directly.
