Audits and inspections
Audits and inspections
Our efforts to reduce the number of incidents taking place include a scheme of monitoring that includes audits and inspections. These involve a series of announced and unannounced visits taking place to ensure expected health and safety systems are in place and that our workplaces are safe. As a minimum, each property is visited every 3 years with some visited each year or second year.
Property Based Audits/Inspections
Each property is visited on a regular basis with the frequency determined by the level of risk identified within a property. These audits seek to ensure all the correct management systems are in place and are being effectively used. These visits will often include an inspection of the work place too.
Topic based Audits/Inspections
Each year a small number of topics will be selected and used to form the basis of a sampling audit. This audit will visit a small number of establishments and concentrate on a particular activity in some detail. This could include working at heights, maternity risk assessments or first aid provisions.
Recording Audits
The results of these audits are uploaded to the Council’s performance management system from which the completion of corrective actions can be monitored.
