UK General Data Protection Regulation

UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR)

The law on data protection changed on 25 May 2018. This is when the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 (the DPA) came into force. The UK GDPR, as read with the DPA, imposes new obligations on the council as a controller and gives the people to whom the information relates significantly enhanced rights.

The council’s Information Governance Board (IGB) has created this section to assist employees of the council to undertake certain tasks that are required for arranging for and implementing the changes.

It will contain all advice, guidance, and policies that the IGB or the council introduces specifically with the UK GDPR in mind.  There is a series of briefing notes intended to supplement the Council's learn online modules relating to the UK GDPR.  The brieifings set out the data protection laws contained within the UK GDPR and provide some specific and detailed guidance on how they should be considered.
