Mapping and data
We now have a new and improved mapping system but don’t worry – it’s not too different from the old one to use.
If you need help, simply press the ‘help’ link on the top right of the mapping homepage and you’ll find step-by-step instructions.
From the homepage you should use the mapping app for your area of business – you’ll find this by hovering over the app tiles. You can also use the general app.
If you previously accessed the mapping tool by a favourite or a desktop shortcut you will have to update these.
We have a number of online mapping applications which enable you to find local information in the South Lanarkshire area in a number of easy ways.
Public Maps Gallery
The public map gallery displays a number of mapping applications for council residents to find and display information on council services in their neighbourhood. These applications have been created in two different formats (one launches with a postcode search and map, the other launches with property address search and map and the ability to display a number of different map layers, including aerial photography).
On entering a postcode, residents can find information on the nearest local offices and other facilities, and identifies the local councillor, MSP, MP, MEP and other relevant information. A number of different map layers can be displayed, including aerial photography.
South Lanarkshire GIS Apps
You can use the SLC GIS apps to find the nearest local offices and other facilities, and to identify councillors / MSPs / MPs. You can measure distances and areas, save or email the map and print. Many different map layers are available, including council asset information (e.g. recycle centres, halls), aerial photography and historical mapping.
All employees on the SLC network can access South Lanarkshire Council GIS apps gallery via the link below. This link will open in a new browser window. Employees should choose the application relevant to their field of work (applications are permissions restricted).
After you have finished using your application, close the window and you will stay in the main public gallery site. A full help facility is available within each app or can be accessed from the gallery.
