Cycle to Work

South Lanarkshire Council participates in the Cycle To Work Scheme.

The scheme enables employees to take advantage of the Government initiative which was developed to promote healthier journeys to work and to reduce air pollution and also fits in with the council's own Wellbeing Plan and sustainable South Lanarkshire.

Employees are able to choose a bike and some cycling safety equipment and can use a hire agreement with SLC pay via salary sacrifice over the next 12 months. Once your agreement has come to an end Halfords will get in touch to discuss your options. The advantage of the scheme is that savings can be made on the tax you pay and the cost of the bike and equipment is paid up over the course of the year.

The bike must be used by you, mainly for commuting to work including part and full journeys made between home and your workplace. The scheme has been run by the council for over ten years and has been very successful with more than 1000 employees signing up.

You can take advantage of this scheme using the employer code SLCC2W.

More information including FAQ's can be found in the Cycle 2 Work website.
