Council standards
South Lanarkshire Council and South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture is committed to providing quality services that meet people’s needs and deliver a high standard of customer care.
Clear communication, fair access and reliable service delivery are essential to how we work. We also have legal duties to make sure our services and information are accessible, including removing barriers for disabled people and people from minority ethnic backgrounds. Our council standards help ensure this happens consistently across all services.
Why standards matter
Council standards help us to:
- provide a consistent and reliable service
- make expectations clear for employees
- deliver services to agreed standards
- improve customer experience
- promote equality of opportunity by removing barriers to access
Services may have additional standards to reflect their own work. These are encouraged, provided they meet or exceed the minimum corporate standards.
Monitoring and improvement
Monitor takes place regulary on how well standards are being met with findings reported to the Corporate Management Team, elected members and the public.
Monitoring also helps us meet our equality duties by showing who uses our services and where improvements are needed. We use this information to review and update standards so they remain relevant.
Monitoring at a local level is actively encouraged by using the Council Standard Monitorng Checklist
