MAPPA

The Management of Offenders Act places a legal responsibility on North Lanarkshire Council, South Lanarkshire Council, Police Scotland, NHS Lanarkshire, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and the Scottish Prison Service to implement a set of arrangements to manage the risk posed by certain categories of offenders across the Lanarkshire area.

The principles that govern MAPPA are:

  • Identify those who may pose a risk of harm
  • Share relevant information about these offenders between agencies
  • Assess the nature and extent of the risk they pose
  • Find ways to manage these risks effectively, protecting victims and reducing further harm

The MAPPA Strategic Oversight Group is chaired by Liam Purdie, Head of Children and Justice Services, South Lanarkshire Council.
