360 review development tool

A 360 feedback review helps you understand how your behaviour, communication and leadership are experienced by the people you work with. It gathers feedback from a range of people, such as your manager, colleagues, direct reports and key partners.

The review is for development only. It helps you reflect on your strengths, identify areas to improve and agree practical next steps for your learning and development.

When you can use a 360 review

You can use a 360 review when someone wants structured feedback to support their development. This may include preparing for a new role, building confidence as a manager, improving team working or reviewing progress after development activity.

When you cannot use a 360 review

You cannot use a 360 review to manage performance, investigate concerns, make decisions about promotion, compare people or replace normal management conversations. It should not be used where there is an active employee relations process.

What the process involves

We will agree the purpose of the review with you before it starts. You will then choose suitable people to provide feedback. They will complete a short form, and we will bring the responses together into a feedback summary.

You will have time to discuss the feedback in a supportive conversation and agree on what you want to do next. This may include coaching, training, reflection or changes to how you work with others.

What to expect if you take part

If you are asking for feedback, you should be ready to listen, reflect and use the information to support your development. If you are giving feedback, please be honest, respectful and specific. Focus on behaviours you have seen and examples that will help the person learn.

Feedback will be handled sensitively. We will explain how responses will be used before the review begins.
