Parental Leave

Parental leave is a legal entitlement that allows you (both mothers and fathers) to take a period of unpaid leave to care for each child born or adopted.

Up to 18 weeks parental leave without pay is available for each parent, for each child under the age of 18 years.

Parental leave may be taken in a single block or as an allowance at any time up to the child's 18th birthday. The minimum amount of parental leave that can be taken at any one time will be one complete week.  If a period less than one week unpaid leave is required it will count as a full week for the purposes of calculating the total parental leave allowance.

Unless in an emergency situation, an employee must give as much notice as possible but at least 21 days.

Every effort will be made to grant parental leave for the dates requested, however, consideration must be given to operational requirements and other leave requests such as annual leave, maternity/adoption leave and paternity/maternity support leave. Your manager may postpone parental leave for up to 6 months for operational reasons, except when parental leave is to be taken immediately after the birth or adoption of a child.

Applying for parental leave

Applications must be submitted via Oracle Fusion as Special Leave (unpaid) and you should give your manager at least 21 days notice of your intention to take parental leave.
