Returning to work

If you are in receipt of additional adoption pay you must return to, and remain at work, for 12 weeks after your adoption leave ends. If this does not happen, you will be required to repay the 12 weeks half pay you received. The annual leave and public holidays that you have accrued will count towards the calculation of the 12 week period. However, any periods of sickness absence taken, either before or after a physical return to work, will not.

If you are unsure if you wish to return to work and are concerned about having to repay the 12 weeks pay, you can opt to waive the period of additional adoption pay until you return to work.

You do not need to notify the Council of your intention to return to work unless this is different from the date provided when you made your request.

However, if you wish to change your return date, you need to discuss this with your manager and provide at least 8 weeks' notice of the amended date, so that arrangements can be made regarding your return to work and pay. When the new date is agreed you should update your maternity leave on Oracle Fusion.

Please be aware that if you do not give at least 8 weeks' notice your return to work may be postponed for the full period of notice required.

If you also want to change your working pattern or reduce your hours when you return to work, you should discuss your request with your manager at which point you should upload your completed PER/FW/1/16  to a change of hours document record on Oracle Fusion for processing.

To help you understand the pay implications of a potential hours change you can use Oracle Intelligent Advisor (OIA) and click the flexible working policy option. Remember that at least 8 weeks' notice of a flexible working request is required.
