Equalities

Equalities impacts on all areas of employment for example when recruiting or managing sickness absence.

Managers must apply all employment policies, procedures and guidance objectively and fairly, balancing the needs of the individual with the demands of the service to allow equality of access and opportunity for all employees.

The Equality Act sets out the anti-discrimination framework and protected characteristics. These are described in the ACAS video.

We also have a statutory duty to actively eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster positive community relations.
