Annual Leave

The leave year runs from 1 January to 31 December. Any leave not taken by 31 January in the following leave year will be forfeited.  However, any leave you have accrued during long term sickness may be carried forward where you have not had the opportunity to take it prior to 31 January.

The minimum annual leave entitlement is 20 days. However, with each year of completed service, you will receive an additional day until you reach a maximum of 30 days (10 years service). If you have previous continuous service with another local authority or public sector partner organisation, this may count towards your leave entitlement. Please contact Personnel Services if any continuous service has not been taken into account.

If you work part time or compressed hours, your annual leave will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, for example, if you work 3 days over 5 or 35 hours over 4 days.

If you work term time your annual leave and public holiday entitlement is fixed for the year and cannot be changed.

All requests for annual leave must be made through Oracle Fusion.

From January 2025 your annual leave entitlement on Oracle Fusion will also include your public holiday entitlement for the year (pro rata). At the start of each leave year, you will be asked to submit your fixed public holidays through the system as annual leave to ensure public holidays are recorded appropriately.
