Managing sickness absence

Early intervention and good communication are key ingredients when managing attendance.

As a manager you need to:

• Apply standards consistently;
• Look after your employees’ wellbeing;
• Keep within the law;
• Look after the best interests of the employee and the Council.

This section has been designed to guide you through each stage of the maximising attendance process. Each page gives an overview of that element of the process and the associated key documents.
