Resigning
When you resign from your job with the Council you need to provide notice. Unless otherwise stated in the schedule of terms and conditions for your post, the minimum notice periods for permanent employees are set out below.
| Grade | Period of notice |
| Grade 1 to Grade 3 | 4 weeks |
| Grade 4 to Grade 5 | 8 weeks |
| Chief Officers | 12 weeks |
| Teachers, Music Instructors, Quality Improvement Officers, Psychologists | 4 weeks |
| Principal/Depute/Head Teachers, Quality Improvement Managers, Principal/Depute Psychologists | 8 weeks (minimum) |
| Temporary Employees | 1 week |
You should tell your manager that you are resigning and agree a resignation date in line with the notice periods above. You should also use up your remaining annual leave entitlement.
After this, you should log into Oracle Fusion at the earliest opportunity to start the resignation process. This is done by accessing the “Me” tab and clicking the “Resign from Employment" link in the Employment section.
You must do this as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made for your final pay. (If you have an overpayment this will be recovered from your final pay. You will receive an invoice for payment of any outstanding balance after your termination date and you will be required to make arrangements to repay the monies owed.)
You will also receive an email notification to confirm that your resignation has been processed and to advise you to complete your “Resignation Journey” on Oracle Fusion. This is a checklist of the tasks you need to complete before your last day of employment including:
- completing the confidential exit interview questionnaire (If you raise concerns that may be unlawful, Personnel Services will contact you for more information.)
- using your remaining annual leave entitlement
- returning any council equipment and identification
