Disciplinary
There are certain standards or behaviour and conduct that will be expected of you at work. These are outlined in the Code of Conduct for Employees. In addition, there will be standards of time keeping, attendance and performance which will be outlined by your manager.
If at any time you are not sure, ask!
Unfortunately, sometimes it is necessary to ask an employee to attend an interview being held under our Disciplinary Procedures. If this happens, there is a formal process which is followed:
- You will be advised of the interview in writing and told the reason for it.
- You will be allowed to have a representative present.
- You will be given reasonable time to prepare.
- You will be able to present your version of events, call any witnesses and question witnesses.
- You will be told of the outcome of the hearing and have this confirmed in writing.
- You will have the right to appeal to a senior officer not included in the hearing, or, in certain circumstances to the Appeals Sub-Committee.
Depending on the variety of factors such as the seriousness of the misconduct, your previous record or any 'live' disciplinary action, the following action can be taken and will be recorded on your personnel file:
| Action | Duration |
| Informal warning | 6 months |
| Written warning | 6 months |
| Final written warning | 12 months |
| Punitive action i.e. demotion, downgrading, withholding of an increment or dismissal, | 12 months |
