Types of leavers
Transfers
When an employee moves from one job in the council to another, this is known as a Transfer.
Transfers occur when an employee is successful in securing a job in another team or resource or applies for a promoted post. Transfers may be permanent or on a fixed term or temporary basis. At the end of a temporary or fixed term appointment, the employee will transfer back to their substantive or original post.
Transfers should not be confused with terminations. Terminations occur only when an employee leaves their employment with the council entirely (terminates their employment) or resigns from one of their multiple assignments (terminates their assignment).
If an employee informs you that they have a new job elsewhere in the council, managers should not start the termination process on Oracle Fusion. Instead you should make the local arrangements to retain their:
- Identity card, name badge, business cards
- property such as keys / car keys and so on
- IT equipment such as laptop, mobile phone, memory sticks
- Tools or equipment
- Uniform
You should also make arrangements to remove them from:-
- IT Network, outlook and email, any other resource specific IT systems
- telephone directory
- internal email distribution lists
- authorised signatory lists
